John Byrne Concert Portraits

On Tuesday, classical guitarist and good friend of mine, John Byrne performed a concert at St James. St James is a fantastic venue and photographic setting; I had always wanted the opportunity to take some good quality portraits there using some off-camera strobes. So I arranged with John to do a few shots after the concert had finished. I wanted to use the fantastic architectural arch that dominates the concert hall as a back-drop for the portraits.

I used my two Canon 580 EX strobes, one through a white brolly camera-right and one through my Lastolite Ezybox camera-left. I put both strobes on manual and balanced the power to give the result I wanted.
