New Kit

I recently borrowed a Canon 85mm f/1.2 from Dave Sauvarin of CSP and immediately knew that I needed wanted one! Thanks Dave!

I know, I know, the Canon 85mm f/1.8 is probably the more sensible choice, being smaller, lighter, faster-focusing, a quarter of the price and probably just as sharp, but my head was overruled by my want for this beauty with its enormous aperture, super quality (even fully wide open) and, of course, its little red ring.


The lens is worth its weight in gold when it comes to isolating individuals in a scene, as demonstrated by this candid shot of a wedding guest:


The lens is of course ideally suited for portraiture; here is a casual snap shot of my eldest son Callum taken with MY copy of the lens:
